Hi all,
I am back! I lost 65 lbs. on BistroMD. Then I went off of it because my life went crazy when I started a new degree program. I am at the end of my degree and I have gained some of my weight back. So I came back to lose the weight and with my degree out of the way I will be able to settle down to a more normal life. I now weigh 248. I want you to know why I love this program. #1 I have a problem with seefood, when I see food I want to eat. This program gave me freedom from having to go to the grocery store. #2 I am always busy, with all the time I save in planning meals and going to the grocery store, I have more time to devote to other tasks. #3 After I stay on the program for a couple of weeks, my cravings go away!
Freedom! BTW I will keep you all informed.Like or Dislike:

UPDATE- Week 3, I’m down 9.7 lbs which I think is reasonable. Sure, I’d like to wake up tomorrow and be 100 lbs lighter but that’s not going to happen, besides the weight I can lose overnight is weight I can put on the next night. So, 9.7 lbs is reasonable. Plus, it means I’m almost 10% of the way to my goal!

After two unsuccessful back surgeries 4 years ago, I was sedentary and unable to exercise. I began putting weight on, mostly around my midsection. As diabetes and heart disease run in my family, and my pain levels were mounting along with the pounds, I realized I needed to take charge of my nutrition, and fast! In 2 1/2 months I have lost weight, have gone down 6 dress sizes, I have a waist, all while eating more food than I did before. But most importantly, I have been able to get in the pool and swim a few laps. I have never felt the “feeling great after exercise” feeling you always read about, but now I do! And I am developing muscle tone really easily! And most of all, my pain levels are going down for the first time in years. Bistro MD, WAHOO FOR YOU!

Hello, my name is Louise Moore and I heard about this as a fluke watching Dr. Phil. (I am not a regular viewer) I ordered the plan this morning and am anxiously awaiting my first delivery. I have read through some of these blogs and have become encouraged that this may finally be the diet that I can stick to and will work. I need to lose 75 lbs. and have become discouraged as I have tried just about every diet known to man. I am the yoyo dieter, lose and lets see how fast I can gain it back! So I hope to join the bloggers here with some positive results soon!

Well at 38 and weighing in at 262 I have decided to try this out. I have already started in a exercise program but had a hard time with the meals. What to eat, how much, good carbs, bad carbs etc. My first shipment should be here in a week and away I go.

Like a lot of people I started my lifestyle change right after the start of the New year. I’d just come back from a family vacation where we’d eaten out three meals a day and I was absolutely miserable. I had watched my weight steadily rise over the past few years telling myself it was brought on by stress at work plus taking care of elderly parents. Much easier to just go thru the drive thru and rationalize that I’ll do better in the future. Seeing myself in the mirror on January 2nd, 2010 and getting on the scale was the big wake up call. Knew I needed to make some drastic changes so I didn’t have to deal with diabetes as I was getting older and constant back pain from overweight. Had heard bad comments about delivered food from other plans but took a chance on BistroMD and love it. For one person it’s wonderful knowing that everything is prepared and I don’t have to worry about wasting food. The meals are delicious and I now can sit down for meals and enjoy the tastes and realize that eating healthy can be delicious. I’ve now lost 40 pounds which keeps me inspired. The energy level is returning and I look forward to shopping for clothes now as I can find things that are attractive and not frumpy. Still have a ways to go but with food find I don’t really crave what is shown on the food commercials anymore.

I have been on Bistro M.D. for about 6 wks. now and have lost 15 lbs. I am usually so hungry on diets, but am able to stay on the plan because the food keeps me satisfied. Weight loss was fast at first, but has slowed down. I like the food, and the program has given me the confidence to keep going.

I’ve been struggling with my weight since 2001. I got a divorce in 2000 and made a move to FL with my daughter. It was a horrible time for my daughter making the adjustment to FL, but shortly after the worst thing in history would effect my life. My brother was a rescue firefighter with Rescue 3 of the Bronx, NY and he was killed at the WTC on 9/11. I gained 50 lbs within three months. My health went downhill quick. I was always sick for three years after that. I’ve been slowly getting it together since. Last year, I went on your meals and did very well. I lost 25 pounds between 2-3 months. Then life got in the way again and my step father died and there went my 25 pounds. So here I am one year later, and have decided to go back on the meal plan. I have done my research and it is the healthiest of all the plans that I know. Nutritionally it’s what I was looking for …approx 25% fat 35%carbs 45%protein and the best part no more than 2300mg of sodium per day. Because of the glycemic index of this meal plan it keeps you from having peaks and valleys in your food cravings. I am finally getting a handle on not loosing my control in time of crisis. I feel confident that I will be successful. Not only because of the nutritional breakout but because of the convenience. The biggest problem is planning ahead and the time to cook and prepare. Bistro MD gives you back all that time. I want to be one of your success stories!

wonderful food in LARGE quantities!! I have lost 3.5 pounds in less than a week – unheard of for a female over 60 years old. So great that I have convienced my husband to start and my son may start, not to loose weight , but as a healthly life style for a busy professional.

I am so grateful for finding BistroMD. I am 42 years old and I have struggled with my weight most of my life. Not only do I have a poor relationship with food, but I am also single, do not know how to cook and have no desire to learn. This made eating healthy very difficult for me. I am about to begin my 14th week on the program and I am just under 40 lbs thinner than when I started. I have thought a lot about why I seem to be having so much more success on this program when compared to the hundreds of other programs I have tried. I believe, for me the four main reasons for this have been:
1) The program is so convenient that it really feels like you are doing something for yourself rather than to yourself.
2) The food is so delicious that you do not feel deprived at all.
3) When you do slip up and go off the program, you quickly realize that the foods you are going off with do not really taste that much better than your BistroMD food. This makes rebounding from going off and getting back on the program much simpler.
4) No shopping for Food at the grocery store (YAY).I truly believe BistroMD will be a part of my life forever. I already told everyone I know that even if I were to lose my job, I will still find some way to pay for the food each week – because I never want to return to the poor food choices I was making before starting this plan. If you factor in the facts that you do not need to buy food, plan your meals, or prepare your meals, in my opinion, the cost of the plan is well worth every penny. I still need to lose about another 40 pounds before I would consider myself in “maintenance mode”, but really with this plan the food is so wonderful that for me I do not see much changing between lose and maintain modes. Thank you to the doctors and chef’s for offering this solution to all those like me that really needed it.

I have been doing bistro md for almost two years now. I’ve really stuck to the meal plan all this time and I have to say that I actually enjoy the meals!! I lost weight fairly quickly and got to my goal weight within a few months of starting Bistro MD. It’s been two years and I have managed to keep the weight off, which I think is pretty impressive!

My parents started me on diets when I was a teenager and to be honest, this has made me very anti-diet in my adulthood. I am now a 35 yrs old woman, and see that I’m heading towards the 300 lbs mark by the time I’m 40 if I don’t do something… which brings me to Bistro MD. I’m on my first week, so I can’t say I’ve lost 4 lbs or my cholesterol dropped by X amount, but I can tell you how it is working so far…
Having the meals already prepared for me has been really helpful. I work full time and go to school at nights. When I get home, the last thing I want to do is plan a healthy dinner, let alone what I’m going to eat the next day. The past solution has been, eat out, a lot. Restaurant portions are not meant for weight maintenance let alone weight loss. Having someone else arrange my meal is such a relief!
In the past, during times when I did cook, I cooked like I have a family of 4 in the house, when really it’s just two. So, I think it is safe to say that my meal portion sizes may be a bit off. Having the portion sizes already decided for me also is a HUGE benefit.
Did I mention the food tastes good? I think this will be one of the main reasons I stay on Bistro MD. If the food didn’t taste good, it wouldn’t work for me long term. I can do liquid diets and protein bars for a short duration. The thing is, to get down to where I need to be—and this is a need not a want–it is going to take more than a few weeks, and I know I wouldn’t be able to stick to shakes and bars for the duration. PLUS, I’m trying to learn portion sizes for the future and liquid diets and protein bars won’t teach me that.
Having food that tastes good and is easy to manage will keep me on the right track. So for right now, I guess my success story is choosing Bistro MD in the first place. I think it will lead me to having more success stories in the future.

I gained a tremendous amount of weight from an automobile accident and benign nodules all over my thyroid. I have just about given up and then I read about BistroMD online and decided that their program made more sense than anything else out there. To date I have lost 25lbs and 20 points off of my cholesterol. 15lbs were lost during the worst time of the year – the holidays. I never in a million years thought that could happen but it did!
I am getting ready to tackle the second 25lbs and know that I will be successful as this program works!
I still need to lose another 75lbs but am breaking it into 25lb increments so that it is not so overwhelming.
The food tastes great and there are plenty of friendly people to help you if you need them.
One of the deciding factors for me was that Dr. PHil approves of this program.

Hi,
I have been on BistroMD for only 2 weeks. So far I have lost 8 pounds! The meals are good because they are constantly changing and you don’t feel like you are eating the same thing day after day.

I’ll check back in a few weeks to let you know how successful I’ve been on the diet. I’m really looking forward to beginning!!!

Hi. My name is Karen Russell, but since there’s already another Bistro MD customer with the same name (January 26, 2010) I’ll just go by Karen RN (I’m a registered nurse). My story is probably somewhat typical of postmenopausal women. I’ve always been thin and I’ve never had any trouble with weight, that is until after menopause. I’m certainly not blaming all of my weight gain on menopause, but that has definitely played a big part. It also hasn’t helped matters that as a nurse I’ve lifted and assisted patients. I also used to be very active. I even taught aerobic exercise classes at the YMCA. About 7 years ago I began a downward slope toward being more and more sedentary after being diagnosed with significant degenerative disc in my spine, with the worst pain in my neck.
I’ve actually looked at the Bistro MD site a few times in the last couple of months. After a little research this weight loss plan appears to be one of the most realistic and healthy. Last year I tried a popular liquid supplement diet under a doctors supervision. Over the course of about 5 months I was only able to lose about 10 pounds, while others were losing 20 to 30+ pounds, then I stalled. No matter what we tried, that was it!
Lately, I’ve been refocused on losing weight and lowering my cholesterol. This time I’m eating real food while watching my fat and caloric intake. I’ve lost 10 pounds in 4 weeks. I want to keep losing while eating healthy meals and snacks. Bistro MD sounds like a great tool to help me succeed.
My first week’s order has not arrived yet. Hopefully my first 7 days of meals will arrive this week. And, hopefully the meals are as delicious as they appear in the photos. I’ve gotten past those first few weeks of “withdrawal” from all the sugar and fats in my diet. As long as the foods are delicious and not monotonous, there shouldn’t be any problems following the Bistro MD program. I’ll check back in a couple of weeks with an update.
One valuable lesson I did learn while on the liquid diet last year is how important it is to have a support system in place as well as someone to whom you can be held accountable.

Where do I start … I’ve had weight issues all of my life, though they began to get worse while I was in my 20’s, the trend continued in my 30’s and 40’s and now I am 51. The last 10 years or so have been very frustrating. At over 400 pounds, nothing I did seemed to take weight off and any time I splurged, I felt the negative effects immediately. When I did manage to drop a few (and I emphasize “few”) pounds, it would be from everywhere but as soon as I gained any weight, it seemed to all go to my lower belly.
Several occurrences brought me to this plan, my weight topped at around a staggering 480 (and I do mean staggering … or maybe a limping waddle would be more accurate). I had some health issues (though very overweight, I have always been pretty healthy), found that I had high blood pressure, diabetes type 2, thyroid issues (which I already knew about) and all the various attachments such as high cholesterol.
I started just over 8 weeks ago. I don’t know the number of pounds I’ve lost so far, unfortunately at my weight, I still need to go to the doctor’s office to find that out. But to be honest, even at my size, it’s not so much about the weight as it is all of the other stuff. Let me just share some of the improvements I’ve been enjoying….
When I’m in my car driving down the road, my right leg no longer has to fight its way past the largeness of my lower belly. Before BistroMD, I was fast approaching the point where it would not have been safe for me to drive. I also have some give in the seat belt when it is buckled. It’s always a nice thing to be able to breath when driving!
My joints are not so achy and I am able to do stairs more easily … both up and down, which was really getting to be a problem. I sleep better at night and with much less stiffness and achiness in my body during and at the end of my sleep time.
And speaking of sleep, I need less of it. I am not so tired and I have increasing amounts of energy.
I see a huge difference in how my clothes are fitting, how I am feeling and my capacity to do just normal living breathing types of things, that have been severely limited for several years now.
I have a very long way to go, but to finally have a program that works, that is delicious, that I don’t have to do anything but heat and eat, and that because of all of that, I don’t have a problem sticking with it … it’s truly wonderful. I can’t say enough about the progress I am having. Thanks you BistroMD. Keep up the GREAT work!

After 5 years of marriage, my husband and I were shocked to find that we’d both become overweight. Due to busy work schedules cooking was hard, so we decided to try BistroMD. After 4 months on the program, he lost 35 pounds and I lost 15. We both still have a bit left to go, but feel amazingly better and super motivated. Best of all, being on the plan has taught us how to eat healthily. The program has been a great catalyst for a healthier lifestyle for both of us.

I gained 35 lbs after my husband left me two years ago and thru the divorce. I had stayed the same weight for 15 years previous to that, but I ate when I was depressed and lonely. I started eating out more and exercising less and wasn’t taking good care of myself. I started Weight Watchers and Jenny Craig a few times each but just couldn’t stick to it. Although I had lost weight in WW in the past, I just didn’t really like the points system since it gave me too much leeway. I have lost 5 lbs in my first 2 1/2 weeks on BistroMD. The food is great, very fresh, gourmet and a good variety. I don’t find that I am craving sweets at all like I used to and because of all the protein and the generous sized portions, I feel very satisfied after I eat. I know this is a diet I can stick to and will continue to lose the weight. I have some favorites that I really look forward to.

Like so many others, I have tried all the weight loss programs available from prescription diet pills, ready made meals and diet shakes. Yes, I lost weight on all of them. Most in excess of 70 lbs. But much to my dismay, I am obese once again. I now have high cholesterol and need to lose 60 lbs. (Not a pretty picture.) I heard about Bistro MD and after researching their website decided to give this program a try. My decision was based on the fact that I am a terrible cook, I don’t take time to plan meals, I have no idea what a healthy portion of food really is and I have tried to lose weight on my own but always wind up giving up. My dietician at Bistro MD has helped me to discover this is because I don’t eat a sufficient amount of calories to feel energetic during the day. Skeptical, I placed my order for the first week of food and was shocked at how wonderful the food tasted and the large quantity of food they wanted me to eat and still lose weight. There is definately a difference between food prepared by a chef and food prepared by someone who only knows how to boil water. I am anxiously awaiting my next week’s delivery and I have already lost 6 lbs. I eat only the meals and snacks from Bistro MD and walk my dogs for an hour a day as a form of exercise. I am delighted with the progress I have made so far and with the help of my dietician at Bistro MD who taught me to set goals for the future, I look forward to the day I can stop taking my cholesterol medication and take a trip to a beautiful place to hike with my dogs without aching or feeling short of breath. That day is coming!

I have been on the program since New Year’s Day, and I am loving it. I have lost 7 pounds. I love being on the program and am astounded at how much I love having no say in what I eat. What a relief to not have to think about what to buy and find time to prepare it. A lot of time (and money) was spent on fast food bought on the way home from work when I realized I hadn’t prepared anything earlier. I also find that on my two days “off,” I am eating a lot less than I used to. I can instantly taste the fat in foods that I used to consume without thinking, and I find I don’t want to eat much of it. Though I realize I can’t be on the program forever, I WILL stay on it until I reach my goal, and that is 28 pounds away. I have also been exercising 3-4 times a week since beginning the program, and that has gone a long way to making me feel like I’m going to succeed. Though I put on a bit of muscle, I feel strong and like I’m just itching to move, and it’s such a good, healthy feeling. I don’t want to just lose size, I want to have a lean, firm shape, so it just makes sense to exercise along with the program. The great snacks keep me going, so I never feel too weak to exercise. All in all, I am enjoying the program and filled with hope that for the first time in my 65 years, I will achieve and keep my goal weight.. Thank you for designing a program that is really easy to continue!

Hi, I’m Carl. I’ve been struggling with my weight for the past 20 years. I’m 59 now and have tried numerous diets and programs from “other” food companies. Yes, I did lose some weight each time but not without suffering. The packaged food programs I had tried were so awful that the poor taste and quality made the thought of another mouthful impossible to take. It didn’t take long for my cravings to take hold and quickly I’d gain back anything I lost and more. I tried to ignore it and think it was just a fact of growing old. Then one day I stepped on the scale and saw a jaw dropping 272 lbs. I’m 6′2″ and looked like a pregnant big man. I needed to do something.
So, I decided that I wanted to approach my weight problem from a different angle. I knew that there are medical conditions that can cause weight gain and loss of energy so I made a plan that I should have made years ago. First, I wanted to get myself checked out completely. If I had some underlying medical issue I wanted to find out.
It was a couple years since I had a physical so I first made an appointment with my primary care physician. I knew I had high blood pressure and high cholesterol and had been taking medicines for that. So, I went through the standard battery of bloodwork, ekg, urine test, etc. as before but I wanted my physician to do more than the usual stuff. I told my doctor that I was having trouble sleeping at night and would wake up several times. I also told him that my brother was recently diagnosed with low testosterone, something he generally didn’t check for. Low T as it’s called can lead to weight gain. Sleep apnea is also known to cause weight gain and weight gain can make sleep apnea worse. A vicious circle of cause and effect.
Two weeks later I had a sleep test at a local clinic and found that while there were some minor episodes of apnea, it wasn’t bad enough to cause concern. So far, good news. Then my doctor informed me that my bloodwork did come back low for testosterone. So, now I needed my pituitary scanned. Luckily, the results were negative so I was sent to a local endocrinologist who did another testosterone blood test explaining that multiple tests were required to confirm a diagnosis of low T.
As I waited for the second tests to come back I started a search online to find out if there were any other food programs I didn’t know about. That’s when I learned about BistroMD. I decided to give it a try in hopes that it was better than my prior experiences. I was very happily surprised when that first box came and was even more surprised when I found the food delicious and in an amount that satisfied my “big man” hunger.
By the time I had my next endocrinologist appointment I had lost 10 lbs. He was happy to see I was committed to losing weight. He also confirmed the low T diagnosis and prescribed a testosterone gel to be used on my upper chest and shoulders every day. I felt good that I was making progress on both the medical and diet fronts.
I’m now in my 3rd month and what a difference. I’ve lost 18 lbs. and my energy is back. I look better, feel stronger and know that my decision to visit my doctor and proactively seek out possible causes for weight gain gave me some timely answers that improved my health. Then, when coupled with the food from BistroMD I felt I had a great tool to keep me focused and on track. Their help in modifying the plan to include more of the meals I like most has been a real benefit. As a result, I’m eating better and am much more conscious as to what I’m putting in my mouth. It’s been a win-win situation for me.
I would urge everyone who has been struggling with weight to look at both their overall health issues in combination with diet. While nobody like going to doctors, being able to identify conditions early can have a big impact on how well you stay on your diet. I’ve learned that diet alone may not be your only issue.
My goal now is to incorporate a well designed exercise plan into my daily regimine. I’m sure that it will increase my feeling of well being and allow me to lose even more weight. I’m setting realistic goals now and felt great that I managed to get through the holidays without gaining a pound. That’s something I’ve never been able to do in the past. For once I feel I’m not yo-yo dieting and am on the path of lifestyle changes I’ve needed to make for some time. Thanks BistroMD for being a major part of my personal effort to change my health for the better.

I have tried it all – Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, South Beach. I am borderline diabetic and am on medication. I’m tipping the scales at over 210 pounds and am only 5′4″. You would think this would scare the heck out of me and motivate me to action, but here I am still stuck in the mire. Like some of the others who have posted, it’s hard for me to believe that this is going to be the time that I stick to something and allow it to work. But I still have hope. My first shipment arrives next week and like Pam, I am looking forward to going on a diet! I just know that if I can have a catalyst, see some movement and feel better, I will be motivated to keep going. Thanks everyone for posting your hopes and your successes – it really helps.

Hi my name is Pam, and I am officially obese!!! My weight has slowly been creeping up over the last 20 years, and at a recent doctors appointment it happened. I tipped the 200 pound mark. Wow! And when my doctor told me I needed to loose at least 40 pounds in the next year, I wish I could say I was shocked. Everyone thought that it was horrible, but it is true. I have know it, but I guess I just needed to hear it out loud. I had started a very basic fintnesss program 2 months ago. Lots of stretching and some cardio, 10 minutes on the bike and 20 minutes on the treadmill, and I got a Wii Fit for Christmas, so I am already excercising more. I know this will key to any successful diet. I have been reluctant to start any program with the holidays and all, but quite frankly I have eaten soooooooooo much the last few weeks that I actually want to diet now. What?? Yea, I know it sounds crazy, but I am motivated. So, last night I did it! I ordered my first week of meals. Now I can’t wait. After reading some of the other success stories, I know this is just the catalyst I need to start “reshapaing” my future. I’ll keep you posted!

I am currently on my 4th week and have lost a total of 8 lbs. I suspect I would lose more if I drank more water – haven’t come around to that yet. Also, I have not exercised, because I know muscle weighs more than fat and I’m nervous that I’ll get discouraged if I see the number go up… Has anyone experienced that?

I have been on the program for only 2 weeks and have lost eight pounds already. I find it very convienient, great tasting and easy to follow. I have only been doing moderate exercise, but plan on increasing that aspect of my weight loss. So far, I am VERY pleased with the program and would advise anyone who was having second thoughts to join right away!

I couldn’t understand why I was gaining weight because I hardly ate anything. I do have a thyroid problem, but that was under control.
Then I found BistroMD. I started on their full plan and within months, I went from a size 8 to a size 2. I have maintained my weight of 127 lbs. for almost two years now.
Through the informative information given to me by the staff of BistroMD, I found out that I was gaining weight because I wasn’t eating properly. I needed to eat three meals a day plus healthy snacks in between meals if I were hungry. This totally amazed me! I was eating so much delicious food, and losing weight!
I lost the weight I wanted, and stopped the BistroMD plan which included the desserts. I decided to continue with the five day meal plan without desserts. It amounts to or is cheaper than buying groceries to cook these fabulous meals.
Yes, I’m still on my BistroMD plan and maintaining the same weight! I’m eating healthy, and because of that, I am able to walk and exercise daily without tiring. I feel ten years younger!
I am 62 years old. Thank you BistroMD for giving me a new lease on life!

Having 3 kids in 4 years, working full time and running business on the side has been very overwhelming. I am a very driven person but with everything going on, the last thing I worried about was myself. The extra weight I had put on had affected my back and legs and I was only a size 14-16. I turned to a local trainer/diet plan. I didn’t have time to workout but ordered his meals. The same food, week after week. Very little selection. I did loose weight, but my husband and grew tired of the plan very quickly. Then I tried Nutri-System, and OH MY was that terrible!!! Sent it back and requested a refund. I had almost given up when I ran across BistroMD. I was not familiar with BistroMD, so I read the testimonials and I had a hard time believing them. Unfortunately, you can’t believe everything you read. But I stand hear today to say BELIEVE IT! BistroMD Meals are delicious. I am steadily loosing weight pound by pound. I look forward meals. There have been meals that when I read the menu I was like uh oh, this is going to be the one, the one I won’t like….. but wrong, I’ve eaten every meal and don’t regret a one. Give it a try. Especially if you are a mom who never does anything for yourself. It is worth it! And it’s fun to tell the kids NO you can’t have a bite and yes I know it smells great

The key is finding a program that you can live with – happily. Thanks for making just such a program.

Bistro MD is purely amazing! I have spent the past 3 years dealing with breast cancer, a double mastectomy with several failed reconstruction surgeries. Chemotherapy, and then kidney stones from the chemo –7 to be exact! After that 2 years I did my 50 year old scanning colonoscopy to find out I had colon cancer –after a major surgery including a partial colectomy and hysterectomy I thought all was done. Fortunately I was cancer free at this point but developed an incisional hernia with another major surgery. It has now been 10 months since my last major procedure.
I woke up one day and decided after all I have been through to save my life I can’t continue to be 100+ pounds overweight. So perusing the internet I came across BistroMD which was the answer to my prayers! A program that would deliver prepared meals to my door – I have always said if someone could cook for me I wouldn’t have any problems staying on track! Lo and behold I am well on my way to my long term goal of 100 pounds and alrady hit my short term goal of 20 pounds in 6 weeks!! A Vera Bradley backpack will be my personal reward.
The food is 90% awesome there are occasional meals I don’t care for but then I request them not to be shipped in the future. The food is varied, tasty, easy to prepare, and is the epitome of luxury enabling me to readily stick to the diet and REALLY learn healthylife choices along the way. I plan to be with Bistro MD for a long time. Keep up the good work in helping to continue to improve my health to a better state before all this cancer and side effects over took my body.
Thank you –Sue SapLike or Dislike:

I have a thyroid problem that was diagnosed several years ago. I gained 10 pounds (from 130 to 140) before being diagnosed. I gained another 10 pounds even after being on the correct thyroid medicine.
My endocrinologist would say “stay away from the carbs” when I would complain about my weight gain. I just did not have the will power.
By joining BristroMD (8 weeks ago), I have had a steady weight loss. In 8 weeks, I have gone from 150 pounds to 136 pounds. I feel confident that I will reach my goal of 130 pounds.
P.S. My husband and I have two 20 pound dogs…my husband jokes that I will lose a “dog” in weight.
Thanks for BistroMD!!!!

I am a working mother of twins (now 4) and a singleton (now 6). In the spring of 2008, I weighed between 125 and 127 pounds (I’m 5′ 5″). I wasn’t overweight, but I had a few pounds I wanted to shed. More importantly, however, I really needed a diet program that would be nutritionally balanced. It had come to the point where I was having a bagel for breakfast at 7 a.m, then I’d be starving at 9, so I’d get pretzels from a vending machine. By noon, I’d be ready to gnaw my arm off, and get a salad. More vending machine stuff in the afternoon and then, when I got home, I’d eat my kids’ leftovers or other junk I found in the pantry. At one point, I was eating Lick-A-Stick for dinner!! Clearly not too healthy and I’d have huge sugar highs and lows.
My husband had been doing the Bistro MD diet and I had tried some of the meals and really liked them so I started the diet myself. Within days of starting, my sugar highs and lows began to be balanced. I never had the feeling of “being starving.” To boot, I lost about 7 or 8 pounds (which is a lot for me). I’ve kept it off for about 16 months now.
I find, too, that my metabolism is so much better. When I work out, I gain muscle mass so much more quickly.
I don’t think of this program as a diet at all. My hunger is totally satisfied and I feel great!! This is the lowest weight I’ve been since high school. Darn… too bad I don’t have a reunion for another 2 years!!!

A year ago, last May, I decided that I would try this program. This was my last ditch effort. The next step would have been bariatric surgery. The food was great, the preparation was easy. I saved so much time with grocery shopping and cooking that I had time to start an exercise program. Bonnie, I think that the key is that you have to be dedicated to the program and you have to start a strong exercise program. The more muscle you build, the easier you will be able to burn fat. That means strength training in addition to cardio. With the combination of the diet and exercise, you will lose weight. I lost 115 pounds in one year and it was surprisingly easy. I seldom plateaued and was seldom hungry. I can’t tell you how many “diets” I have tried over the years with no success.
I am also diabetic. I have been going through my annual check-up over the last month with my endocrinologist. One of the tests included a scan of my body composition. In 13 months, I went from 49.7% to 15.1% body fat. However, I am 5′6″ and weigh 150 pounds. So I am not underweight. It’s all muscle.
I have been off of the Bistro program now for about a month. So far I haven’t gained any weight back. I have been applying what I learned from the Bistro plan to my eating habits and have continued my exercise program. I am 52 years old and have been fighting a weight problem for almost 20 years.

I decided to try one more time. Everyone knows that line. At 55 years old, I knew it was getting more and more difficult to drop pounds with the strategy I was using. I got your food and was amazed. I committed to one month: when I saw the results, I committed to another month and another month and another month. All that food – it was great AND I was losing weight. I am short (5′1″) and weighed 170#. I now weigh 120 and have been at that weight for over a year. People are totally amazed – most people don’t even recognize me anymore until I tell them who I am. It’s unbelievable how much better I feel. Food has always been an issue with me. I still have ups and downs, but it’s controllable. I went from size 12-14 to 4-6. With your food plan, I learned how to eat properly and give my body the nourishment it needs not only to survive but to thrive and be healthy. I do my best to talk everyone into trying the plan for at least one month.

A year ago March, I made the committment to try BistroMD for 90 days. I figured anyone could stick with something for 3 months. I found that the food was good and the program was working, so I added another month. On July 1, 2008, I made the leap to “going it on my own”, applying the principles of portion control, calorie and fat control, and making sensible food choices that I had learned from BistroMD to my daily personal food choices. I also kept up my new exercise regimen of walking at least 30-45 minutes a day when weather permitted.
Since March 1, 2008, I have lost 65 pounds. On March 1, 2008, I weighed 235 pounds. Today I weigh 170. I went from a size 42 waist to size 32-33. I went from a size XL shirt to a medium, and can even wear the “athletic” fit styles. My jacket size is currently 42S…down from a 48R. (I needed the length to cover the tummy)
I look 15 years younger and feel 20 years younger. When you’re 57, that’s a huge impact on your appearance and feeling of well being.
I’m in the entertainment industry and all of my clients and colleagues are constantly commenting how great I look.
“How did you do it?” they all ask. I share the BistroMD story with them and anyone who will listen.
Thanks for being the catalyst that got me started to a new way of life.
